Aloo Mutter
Lets make the evergreen, all time favourite 'Aloo Mutter'. Everybody likes Potato/Aloo, or atleast no one dislikes it. But kids do love potatoes and nobody will say 'no' to this yummy Aloo Mutter. Once I had prepared Aloo mutter and had parceled it for my daughter and her friend with few chappathis as dinner for their travel via train. I did get comments from my daughter as usual, but her friend too left me a note saying 'Aunty it was an Oscar winning Aloo Mutter'. :) Lets check out its recipe.
Ingredients:
Boiled Potato : 3 medium sized
Peas/mutter: 1 cup
Onion: 2
Tomato: 2
Ginger garlic paste : 1.5 tbsp
Green Chillies : 2
Turmeric : 1/4 tsp
Garam Masala : 1.5 tsp
Dhaniya powder : 1.5 tsp
Red Chilli powder : 1 tsp
Roasted Jeera powder : 1/2 tsp
Bay leaf -1
Cinnamon - 1 inch
Cardamom - 2 small
Salt to taste
Oil : 3 tbsp
Ghee - 1 tbsp
Fresh coriander leaves
Method:
1. Heat oil+gheein the kadhai. Add cardamom, bay leaf and cinnamon.
2. Add finely chopped onions. Saute for 2 min.
3. Add green chillies, ginger garlic paste and saute till onions start turning golden brown..
4. Now add finely chopped tomatoes to it. Saute for 5-8 min or till oil oozes out from the masala into the sides of the kadhai.
5. Add turmeric, garam masala, dhaniya powder, red chilli powder, jeera powder and saute them for a min.
6. Add green peas and little chopped coriander leaves (say 1 tbsp), saute for 2-3 min.
7. Now add 1 cup water and cook for 2 min with closed lid.
8. Now add mashed potatoes and salt, Mix them well and saute for 2-3 min.
9. Transfer it to another vessel and place it in pressure cooker and wait for one whistle.
10. Garnish with fresh coriander leaves.
